The WhittleBird was originally inspired and brought to life from a past logo concept, a design that would have otherwise been forgotten.
Crafted in 2020 as an anniversary gift, and for of the love of midcentury modern design, this cheeky little chirpy chappy has had a few iterations since its initial conception.
Every WhittleBird has been lovingly hand-made in sunny West Yorkshire from locally sourced and reclaimed timber, making them individually characteristic and unique as a result.
A simple form combining clean lines and organic curves in a straight forward minimalist design.
Created as an anniversary gift in 2020, the first Whittlebirds were crafted as male and female blackbirds out of natural and painted black sapele.
From the original design came a few spin-offs, developing new styles including the addition of the 'beak'.
The overall design was eventually reduced to a single piece of wood, with legs to help it stand.
By adding a 90 degree twist, and extending the legs, we come to the final version of the WhittleBird, a fun and cheeky little chappy that ouzes character in a contemporary timeless design.
Crafted in oak together with their BirdBox homes.
Every WhittleBird comes with its own uniquely designed colourful BirdBox packaging, handmade at Burrows Design HQ.
